This map indicates the locations of Black businesses in Toronto in 1859-60. Research and content by Adrienne Shadd for A Black People’s History of Canada.
A Black People’s History of Canada (BPHC) is a project funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage and Dalhousie University. Its purpose is to conduct new research into our nation’s rich African Canadian history and heritage, and to fill the gap in Black Canadian history education.

Prserving the history and legacy of sport in our communities.

Combining research and practice with regard to safe sport, this book offers current and insightful commentary that addresses athlete voices, governance, human rights, legal issues, coaching, and officiating perspectives. Comprised of 18 chapters from 21 contributors across academic and professional realms, it offers comprehensive and open-access safe sport information for individuals and organizations within all levels of the sport system.
